Tenmyō てんみょう
a little introduction to one of the rarer cultivars we’ve been excited to share with you!
A little piece of Uji
grown in uji, japan, tenmyō has a lot of character.
uji has been known for its tea for centuries, and it’s also where our tenmyo comes from. a cultivar we don’t get to see as often, but one with quite an interesting story behind it...
Something special ✴︎
tenmyo was developed in kyoto from a naturally cross-pollinated samidori seedling and officially registered in 2006. but its story actually goes back to 1977, when kyoto tea researchers began selecting promising tea plants from samidori seedlings.
years of work just to develop a tea plant better suited for what they were looking for!
What to expect from Tenmyo—
think rich & buttery umami, naturally sweet, subtly nutty with dark chocolate notes and a super lovely depth.
Available on October 31
